Hello and welcome to Protomotive! Today, we’re excited to present a walk-around of our Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 Twin Turbo System designed for the 1994-1995 Porsche 993. Although the manifold varies for the 964 993 Vario Rams, the Twin Turbo System remains consistent for all three stages.
Stage 1 – Bolt-On Kit
Our Stage 1 Twin Turbo System is a straightforward bolt-on kit that does not require any engine teardown. It operates at 6 PSI boost with high compression, resulting in an impressive 410 horsepower at the crank. This system runs on pump fuel, making it accessible and user-friendly.
Stage 2&3 – Enhanced Performance
For Stage 2, we perform a thorough teardown and lower the compression ratio while retaining the 3.6-liter engine for 460 to 480hp. Where Stage 3’s are upgraded further to 3.8L. With this modification, the system achieves 650 to 700 horsepower at 1 to 1.2 bar of boost, offering a significant power boost over Stage 1.
Stage 4 – The Ultimate Powerhouse
The Stage 4 Twin Turbo System is the epitome of power and performance. Featuring a 3.8-liter engine with Evo cams or other grinds depending on customer preference, this system delivers an astounding 800 to 1000 horsepower. The dual injectors per cylinder, giant turbos, and twin plugs make it a true powerhouse.
Impeccable Design and Construction
Our Twin Turbo System boasts equal-length stainless steel headers, CAD-designed, and hand-fabricated with precision TIG welding. The intercoolers are massive and highly efficient, providing over a thousand cubic inches of cooling capacity. To ensure durability and reliability, we use 4043 chromoly rods for newer models.
ECU and Fuel Management
The 1994-1995 Porsche 993s have chipable OEM ECUs that we can fine-tune after turbocharging. The OEM Mass Flow Sensor remains in place, and we also offer a Billet aluminum replacement rear boot for the throttle body attachment to handle higher boost levels.
Meticulous Bottom Side Details
Flipping the system over, you’ll find the equal-length headers with stainless steel flanges, v-band turbochargers, and wastegate dumps. The system produces an exhilarating sound akin to the popular RSR models when on Boost. The well-designed and robust components ensure maximum performance.
Customization and Power Options
At Protomotive, we offer a range of turbo options, including GT2 fuel pumps, 60-pound injectors, and larger turbo sizes, such as the 3076, 3586 HTAs, and Sona rotor 7864s. The systems are entirely customizable to match specific power preferences, applications, and driving styles.
