We've already installed flame rings in these and we're getting ready to pack them up and ship them! Ivan over at IMA is putting this engine together- he's using our 4 liter stroker crank 102 millimeter 3.8 with a 80.4 stroker crank which makes 4 liters using our crank and rods and pistons and liners. He's using ITBs (individual throttle bodies)-Motec on this. We've already built the turbo system and shipped it off. It's going to be quite the engine! We recently got shipped some Billet Porsche 993 Turbo Cylinder Heads from Pauter to install flame rings and wanted to do a little review and factory comparison for you guys :) We'll be covering everything from how these heads are packed for shipping to all the differences you'll expect to see compared to a factory 993 Turbo Cylinder Head including valve size, port size + exhaust port shape, cooling fin thickness + the impact that can have on thermal diffusivity, etc.! Today we've got some pretty fun heads here, these are for a 993 turbo conversion or upgrade. Let's go ahead and get one of these out of the box, show you how he packs them. He does a nice job with these things, it's a really simple packing method, but pretty effective nonetheless. This is a 993 Carrera style cylinder head, because this particular one is a turbo conversion. He can make them in the 993 Turbo style with the higher sides; but we decided against that because of liner availability. The 993 Turbo liners are 1/14.5 tall- these are 1/20 tall. They make the difference up in the cylinder head, as you can see, there's a huge step in the stock heads- versus these are flat. So Brian made these up to match the available liners. Got some pistons made up to fit this all together; 8 to 1 compression at the end of the day. It's a nice piston and a super strong head. Here's the overall cylinder head, very nice work. Let's talk about this guy. First thing we noticed when unboxing these was, holy cow, would you look at the size of these valves! They look massive compared to the stock head. A 993 turbo intake valve measures 50 millimeters, with the exhaust at 42.5 millimeters. Intake on this is about 52.5 millimeters versus the 50 millimeters. When I line it up to the bottom there you can see the gap on the top. 44.5 millimeters exhaust versus stock 42.5 millimeters- so we're plus 2 millimeters intake and exhaust.
