Head Stud Kit machine Labor
Upgrading head studs? Don’t install them by hand. Crooked or misaligned head studs can ruin your engine!
What is this for?
- This is labor only
- For machining 996tt and 997.1TT blocks, liner carriers and heads to accept big head stud kits
- 7/16″, 12mm and 1/2″
- 10mm kits do not require machine work.
What is the process?
- The blocks are cleaned and fixtured to precisely locate and align the oem bores and stud holes
- We find the used blocks to be slightly shrunk after use and not aligning to a standard 118mm stud pattern
- This is repaired when updating to the larger stud kits
- The liner carriers are carefully milled using piloted counterbores
- The tooling can follow the original hole without breaking through the thin walls near the lower o-ring grooves
- Cylinder heads are the final machine process, requiring the holes to be oversized for the big head studs.
Where can I see the process?
- On our YouTube Channel!
- The video below is both for Boring and Head stud machining. Showing the case only.
If you also require the cases to be bored, follow this LINK
