VCI Cable Reading and Flashing Instructions
Tuning with Protomotive? Here’s the VCI Cable Reading and Flashing Instructions to help you get started. These instructions are for the 4.1.0.1 Flash client using Durametric VCI cables with the LED under the E in Porsche.
How to install the software
- Download and install https://www.protomotive.com/downloads/ProtoFlashClient41061.zip
- Please Unzip it to c:\Program files or c:\Program Files (x86) on 64 bit machines
- It will be in the ProtoFlashClient directory now
- Go into the ProtoFlashClient folder. Right click on T4TPorsche and Create a shortcut to your desktop for T4TPorsche.exe
- Then you can simply double click the shortcut to start your read / flash
- If your laptop doesn’t have Microsoft .net 4.0, install this. Windows 7 and up should already have it. Xp does not, but may have if you run other softwares requiring the .net setup. https://www.protomotive.com/downloads/dotNetFx40_Client_setup.exe
How to run the software (read and flash)
- After the software has installed, plug in the cable so it recognizes and installs the drivers before running the software.
- After the drivers have been recognized, plug the cable into the car, key on (not running) click on read.
- Locate where you’d like to save the file and remember that location (desktop is great)
- Once done reading, send/email me the VIN.trx file that comes out. VIN will be your actual vin # with the extension .trx.
- Protomotive will tune your file and return it as a *.ttx file
- Open the flash client, while connected to the car with the key on, and click on write
- Locate the *.ttx file and it’ll write your file
- When all is done, close the software, turn your key off, then back on, then start your car.
